Alina Araslanova Personally Attending the Opening of Paper Shelter in Cómpeta

On June 13 at 7:00 PM, internationally acclaimed Ukrainian photographer Alina Araslanova will personally attend the opening of her exhibition Paper Shelter at the Museo del Aceite in Cómpeta, Spain.

As part of the Cómpeta Photo Days 2026, this special evening offers visitors a rare opportunity to meet the artist behind one of the most emotionally powerful contemporary photographic projects emerging from Ukraine today.

A Deeply Human Photographic Journey

Paper Shelter is a visual exploration of vulnerability, displacement, identity, and emotional survival during times of war. Through intimate and poetic imagery, Alina Araslanova documents the invisible emotional landscape experienced by young people growing up under the shadow of conflict.

The title itself — Paper Shelter — symbolizes both fragility and protection: a temporary refuge made from delicate materials, much like the emotional shelters we create during uncertain times.

Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Alina Araslanova began her photographic journey in 2018 and quickly gained international recognition. Her works have been exhibited across Europe, including Vienna, Basel, Rome, Strasbourg, and Milan. The series Paper Shelter has received several international awards and critical acclaim for its emotional depth and artistic sensitivity.

The Artist Behind the Images

What makes this exhibition especially moving is the personal story behind it. As a mother of two daughters, Alina experienced the early months of the war while living between Romania and Vienna. These experiences profoundly shaped the creation of Paper Shelter, turning the project into both an artistic statement and a deeply personal testimony.

Her photographs capture not only visible realities but also the psychological traces of uncertainty, loss, resilience, and hope.

An Evening of Art, Conversation, and Encounter

The opening night at the historic Museo del Aceite promises to be far more than a traditional exhibition vernissage. Guests will have the chance to experience the artworks in the presence of the artist herself, engage in conversation, and gain insight into the creative and emotional process behind the series.

Set within the inspiring atmosphere of Cómpeta Photo Days, the exhibition creates a dialogue between documentary photography, contemporary art, and human connection.
